Removing a powder pan from its original compact can separate it from the information you need to identify and use it. Before reorganising a palette, preserve the label, shade, batch code and original opening date. The lowest-effort option is often to keep the original compact; only use a removable-pan system as its maker directs.
Keep the label with the product
Photograph the whole label and keep the carton or a readable copy. Record the exact product, shade, ingredient list, warnings and intended application area. The FDA advises following the label and warnings 1. A colour that looks like an eyeshadow is not necessarily intended for the eyes 4.
Do not describe a pan as “eye approved” because of its colour or where you placed it. Copy the actual intended-use wording. If you cannot identify a pan or recover its instructions, leave it out of a shared palette rather than guessing.
Record two dates separately
Keep the original opening date separate from any later transfer date. Moving a powder into another case does not restart its usable life. If you do not know the original date, record “unknown” rather than inventing one. Retain any printed replacement directions as well.
Use the maker’s removable system
Do not pry glued pans out with knives or heat them with flames, irons or a hair dryer. General cosmetic storage guidance cannot establish a safe DIY removal temperature or solvent. The FDA advises protection from temperature extremes 2 and notes that heat can damage preservatives 3.
If the manufacturer provides a refill or removable-pan system, follow that system’s directions for both removal and the replacement housing. Check that the case closes properly and the pans remain secure. Avoid putting an unapproved glue, adhesive label or solvent into contact with the cosmetic itself.
Keep the new layout identifiable
Draw a simple grid and assign each position a code. Keep the product record tied to that code, even if similar shades sit beside each other. Update the map whenever you move a pan. Retain labels outside the cosmetic surface, using only a method compatible with the housing.
Keep containers clean and closed 2. Use suitable clean applicators; the AAD’s personal make-up brush washing interval is 7–10 days 5, not a professional between-client sanitation protocol. This guide does not establish how Luté’s studio tools are processed.
For an appointment, Luté Beauty Studio’s treatments menu lists Natural glam without lashes at K200 6. Ask about your preferred look without assuming a particular palette or product stock.
