Before intimate waxing, agree what area will be treated, who will be present, how changing and draping will work, and how you will pause or stop. Ask these questions before undressing. A service name or price does not establish the room arrangement, the required exposure or a studio’s policy about companions and photographs.
Ask who will be present
Ask whether the proposed appointment is private, who will carry out the treatment and whether anyone else may enter the space. If a support person would help you feel comfortable, ask in advance whether that can be accommodated.
You might say: “I want to understand who will be in the room and what happens while I change. Can you explain the arrangement before I book?” You do not need to assume assistants, trainees, a separate changing area or a locked room exist in order to ask about privacy.
Luté lists intimate waxing options on its treatment menu. Ask the studio directly about the arrangements for the specific service you are considering. 1 2
Agree coverage and clothing boundaries
Clarify the exact coverage of the listed service, including any area you want left untouched. Luté lists bikini line, two Brazilian options, Hollywood, butt strips and full buttocks separately. These labels should prompt a coverage discussion rather than an assumption about identical boundaries at every salon. 1 2
Ask which garments would need to be moved or removed, what covering is available and how privacy while changing is handled. Do not assume disposable underwear, towels or screens are supplied. Explain any boundary before treatment begins, and ask whether the proposed service can be carried out within it.
Choose a clear pause or stop signal
Agree words that are easy to say, such as “pause” and “stop”. If you would prefer a hand signal as well, discuss it before the wax is applied. Ask the practitioner to explain how to raise a concern about temperature or discomfort during the session.
AAD’s home-waxing advice says the wax should feel warm without hurting or burning and describes a wrist-temperature check. That general instruction does not establish the studio’s product or intimate-waxing procedure; ask how the actual product instructions will be followed. 4
A conversation about control is useful in its own right. It is not a guarantee that a procedure will be painless or that a particular signal prevents every injury.
Discuss photographs separately
If photographs are proposed, ask why, what would be captured, who could see them and whether any public use is intended. State your choice about photography separately from your request for a waxing service. If you do not want photographs, say that clearly and ask how your preference will be handled.
Do not assume a close crop is anonymous: tattoos or other details may still identify you. Ask about storage and any later request to remove an image. These are practical questions, not a statement of a verified studio photography policy or an explanation of Zambian consent law.
Keep preparation and aftercare questions on the list
Mention relevant medicines, previous reactions, sunburn or unusual sensitivity before deciding on the appointment. AAD advises against waxing sunburned or very sensitive skin and after isotretinoin use within the previous six months. Ask your prescriber before changing prescribed treatment. 3
Ask what aftercare applies and who to contact with a concern. A privacy agreement does not replace preparation advice or medical assessment where needed.
Personal appointment discussion checklist

| Changing | How will privacy be provided? | __________ |
| Coverage | Which areas are included or excluded? | __________ |
| Clothing and covering | What needs moving and what covering is available? | __________ |
| Control | How do I pause or stop? | __________ |
| Photographs | Are any proposed, and what is my choice? | __________ |
| Preparation and aftercare | What do I need to check first? | __________ |
This is your own discussion aid, not a studio consent form. If an important question remains unanswered, resolve it before proceeding.
