Use an eyebrow reference photo to show what you like, then agree a version that fits your own preferences and the hair you have. A photograph can help explain softness, fullness or an arch shape, but it does not show every product or process used to create the look.
You can bring a reference without expecting an exact copy. The most useful part is the conversation about which details you want to keep, change or leave uncertain.
Pick out the individual features
Rather than asking for “these brows”, describe what caught your attention. You might like a soft inner edge, a particular tail length, a fuller-looking middle or a more defined outline.
Choose one or two priorities. If you like the overall impression but cannot identify why, say that and ask the practitioner to explain what they see. You can also mark details you do not want copied.
Allow for what the photograph cannot tell you
Lighting, angle, expression, cosmetic filling and editing may affect the appearance. You cannot reliably identify every one of those factors from a single image, so record uncertainty rather than treating the photo as proof of natural hair density or a particular procedure.
Ask whether the effect you like could involve pencil, powder, gel, colour or a treatment that is separate from shaping. A change in appearance does not establish which method was used.
If possible, include a photograph of your own previous brows that you liked. Note any cosmetic product you were wearing so the comparison is clearer.
Compare with your retained hair
Ask the practitioner to point out which parts of the reference relate to your existing hair and which would depend on a different step. Make the areas you want to retain explicit before removal begins.
Useful questions include:
- Which detail can we discuss through a simple tidy-up?
- Would this appearance depend on temporary filling or another procedure?
- What would have to be removed, and do I want that trade-off?
- Which parts of the picture are uncertain or unrealistic to copy?
- Can we agree a smaller change and review it first?
You can decide to keep the reference as inspiration without agreeing to any hair removal or chemical service.
Check the actual method and products
Confirm which service is proposed and whether any temporary filling, tint or other step is included. A shaping request is not automatic agreement to a separate treatment.
For products placed near the eyes, FDA consumer guidance advises using only cosmetics intended for that area, washing hands and keeping instruments clean. [1, 2] Do not share eye cosmetics. [3] If an eye cosmetic causes irritation, stop using it and seek medical advice if irritation persists. [4]
These checks concern the actual service and product; the reference photograph is not evidence of hygiene or suitability.
