Your first cluster-lash appointment: a complete question guide

Before a first cluster-lash appointment, confirm the actual lash pieces, adhesive, placement, intended wear and removal plan. A general description such as “individual lashes” or a make-up price that includes lashes does not answer all of those questions.

Ask for product names and instructions before agreeing. You should know what you will be wearing and what to do if it becomes uncomfortable.

Ask to see the actual format

The effect in a photograph does not reliably identify how a lash product is constructed. For example, Ardell sells an “Individual Illusion” style that it describes as a strip lash designed to resemble hand-applied individuals. [1]

As a separate named example, Ardell's Naked Clusters 437 instructions offer different placement and wear choices depending on the adhesive used. [2] This shows why a label such as “cluster” should not become a universal one-day or extended-wear rule.

Ask whether the proposed service uses a strip, separate cluster pieces or another format, and whether the quoted service includes that exact option. These examples do not establish Luté's stock or application method.

Identify the adhesive and instructions

Record the product name, intended placement and directions for care, wear and removal. Ask which products belong together and what the manufacturer says about the combination. Do not borrow instructions from a different glue because its packaging looks similar.

FDA eye-cosmetic guidance notes that false lashes and extensions use adhesives and that irritation, allergy or injury around the delicate eyelids can be troublesome. It advises checking adhesive ingredients. [3] “Natural” or “hypoallergenic” should not be treated as a promise that a product cannot cause a reaction. [4]

Share relevant eye and product history

Tell the practitioner about previous lash or adhesive reactions, current eye symptoms, contact lenses and any medical advice that may affect the appointment. Ask a healthcare professional about an active eye problem rather than assuming a product-history checklist establishes suitability.

FDA guidance advises avoiding eye cosmetics during an eye infection or when surrounding skin is inflamed. [5] A first appointment can be postponed if you need to resolve those questions.

Agree the application boundaries

Ask where the actual product is intended to be placed, who will apply it and how the tools are handled. Follow the instructions for the named product; do not infer placement from another lash style or an online video.

FDA guidance advises washing hands before eye-cosmetic application, keeping instruments near the eyes clean and not sharing eye cosmetics. [6, 7] Ask how the practitioner avoids contamination during the service.

Agree a way to pause or stop before application begins. You can decline extra steps or a different product if the original plan changes.

Decide care, wear and removal before leaving

Ask for the actual wear limit and cleaning instructions. Do not assume that every cluster lash is short-term event wear or that an advertised maximum means you should keep it on until that day.

Record the correct removal process and who to contact if you cannot follow it. Avoid tugging at attached lashes or experimenting with a household solvent. Product-specific removal instructions and appropriate help are more useful than an improvised recipe near the eyes.

If an eye cosmetic causes irritation, stop using it and seek medical advice if irritation persists. [8] If lashes remain attached, ask for appropriate removal advice instead of interpreting “stop using” as permission to pull them off. Seek prompt healthcare help for a concerning eye reaction.
