Back, shoulders or neck: agreeing a continuous waxing boundary

Describe the back, shoulder and neck areas you want treated, then ask the studio to confirm how its listed services cover them. A full-back price does not tell you whether shoulder tops or the nape are included. Agree the outline and any overlap before choosing services or adding prices together.

Describe the outline in ordinary words

You do not need anatomical terminology to make a useful enquiry. Say whether you mean the lower back, upper back, the top of the shoulders, the back of the neck or the front of the neck. Point out any area you want left untouched.

If the boundary is difficult to see, ask how it can be explained privately at the appointment. A photograph is not compulsory for an initial enquiry. If you choose to share one, limit it to what you are comfortable sending and ask how it will be used.

Luté lists full back waxing at K200, neck waxing at K100 and full arms waxing at K195. Those are listed options, not a verified map of the transitions between them. 1

Ask about shoulders separately

Ask whether the shoulder area you mean is included in the proposed back or arm service, or needs a different arrangement. Avoid assuming it is included simply because it sits between two named areas.

For example: “I want my upper back and the tops of my shoulders treated, but not my upper arms. Which listed service or combination should I ask for?”

If the answer mentions an additional area, ask for the resulting total. Do not assume a custom service, add-on price or package exists until the studio confirms it.

Clarify the neck request

“Neck” can be an unclear enquiry on its own. Explain whether you mean the nape at the back, an area below the front jawline or both. Ask where the treatment would stop relative to your preferred hairline or clothing collar.

A boundary discussion is useful even when you have had the service elsewhere. It avoids treating another salon’s definition as Luté’s confirmed practice. Agree what is proposed before the first application rather than relying on the service label alone.

Keep preparation questions separate

Tell the practitioner about previous reactions, sunburn, unusual sensitivity or relevant treatment before booking. AAD advises against waxing sunburned or very sensitive skin and after isotretinoin use within the previous six months. Do not change prescribed treatment yourself to fit the appointment. 3

AAD’s general preparation advice includes hair about a quarter to three-quarters of an inch long, gentle washing and thorough drying. If you cannot comfortably reach an area to prepare it, ask what to do rather than attempting an awkward last-minute trim. 3 4
