If your skin has changed or become irritated since you made your waxing reservation, you should report these changes to your beauty practitioner or clinical professional before travelling for your treatment. Describe what has changed rather than trying to diagnose it yourself. Do not treat an existing reservation as confirmation that waxing is still appropriate.

Notice changes to your skin since booking

Before attending a hair removal appointment, assess the treatment area for any signs of skin compromise. Dermatologists explicitly advise that you must never wax sunburned or very sensitive skin 1. Furthermore, waxing should not be performed if you have taken isotretinoin within the last six months 1.

Tell the practitioner about new soreness, peeling, a rash, broken skin or unusual sensitivity in the proposed area. The general AAD precaution is not an individual diagnosis or a clearance checklist. 1

Record relevant skincare products and active ingredients

Include relevant skincare products and prescribed treatment in the discussion:

When documenting your skincare history prior to a visit, compile a complete list of all topical creams, chemical exfoliants, and oral medications used recently so you can ask a precise preparation question. Ask your prescriber about medicine changes or individual medical concerns.

Contact the studio before travelling

Rather than travelling to the studio while uncertain about your skin's condition, contact your beautician in advance to report location, symptoms, and recent product usage.

For clients booked at Luté Beauty Studio in Lilayi, Lusaka, you can discuss appointment suitability before travelling by reaching out through their direct channels 5:

Review the treatment menu to identify the booked service, then ask the studio how to handle the existing reservation. This guide does not establish a cancellation policy, online amendment function or guarantee that a replacement slot is available.

Escalate concerning symptoms to a medical professional

Beauticians and beauty studios provide cosmetic hair removal services and cannot offer clinical diagnoses or prescribe medical treatment for skin disorders. If you observe concerning skin changes or post-treatment complications, seek medical evaluation:
